Thank you for your interest in our club. The Nutmeg Chapter of POCI has been in existence since 1976. We are the Connecticut based chapter of the Pontiac Oakland Club International, but unusual in that in addition to members residing in Connecticut, we also have members in 12 other states and Canada. Our club is a mixed group of single, married and family members who are interested in the restoration, maintenance and enjoyment of all models of Pontiac and Oakland automobiles and GMC trucks.
Our meetings are usually held on the first Sunday of the month and at varying locations. Occasionally our meetings are held at events or car shows. While attendance at meetings is encouraged, it is certainly not required. Our award winning newsletter The Drumbeat is published monthly to keep our members informed of club activities and upcoming events.
Our club organizes two all Pontiac, Oakland and GMC shows each year. Our Spring Show and Swap Meet is usually held in the middle of May at Masonicare in Wallingford, CT and is sponsored by Barberino Nissan. Our Fall Show and Swap Meet is held on the last Sunday of September at Masonicare in Wallingford, CT. and is also sponsored by Barberino Nissan. We sometimes caravan as a club to Pontiac shows hosted by neighboring POCI Chapters.
There are many directions of personal interest in the automotive hobby - restorations, street rods, muscle cars, mild and wild customs, race cars, etc. and our members reflect the many facets of the hobby. Whatever your interests are, we have a place for you in our club. You need not own a Pontiac, Oakland or GMC to join us, you just need an interest in the hobby and a desire to have fun. Membership in our parent organization (POCI) is strongly recommended but not required.
If you do own a Pontiac, Oakland or GMC you will find that our members are very willing to help you find that missing part, offer suggestions and help with technical advice, etc. We have members who are working on cars without yet having had that first drive. It is here that belonging to a club can really pay off. The encouragement and help supplied by members has been critical in the completion of many vehicles.
If this sounds interesting to you, we welcome your membership. Just print out and complete the application on this website and mail it along with a check made out to Nutmeg Chapter, POCI to the address on the form. You will receive a membership card and Nutmeg Chapter decal with your first copy of The Drumbeat .
Cordially,
Noel J. Evans, President
